British Prime Minister Liz Truss has told Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid, she is considering moving the British embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
Truss met Lapid at a United Nations summit in New York on Wednesday and told him she was reviewing the possibility of following the U.S. lead.
Since the creation of Israel in 1948 Britain has had its embassy in Tel Aviv, despite Jerusalem being the official capital.
Shortly after he arrived in the White House in 2017, President Donald Trump promised to move the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
He followed through with that pledge, despite widespread criticism, and the U.S embassy opened in Jerusalem in May 2018….
